Children's Club How-To
Share your talent: Teach a children's miniature group! In the spirit of volunteering your time and talent, share your miniature hobby with children. Funds may be requested from the Society of American Miniaturists by SAM members who wish to teach miniatures to children in their hometown. You may either:
- Sponsor a group on your own where the same group meets regularly and forms a children's miniature club or
- Teach one or more classes to an exisiting group such as the Boy Scouts or a craft class at the local library or
- Present projects to a group, but not on a regular basis
The money provided by SAM must be spent for necessary items needed for projects which teach the children about miniatures. Receipts for money spent must be submitted to the treasurer, Charlotte Cawood. IF the money provided by SAM is not sufficient, consider charging $1 for $2 to students attending class. Submit the "Application to Request Funds" to President Molly Potts who will present the application to the SAM Board. On approval, an amount of up to $100 will be mailed by Charlotte Cawood. Receipts with items listed must be returned to Charlotte no later than six months from the date of the original check. After the initial $100 or less, additional money of up to $400 per teacher per year may be requested by emailing Charlotte at charlottecawood@aol.com. When planning to teach a children's group, remember that your miniaturist friends are more than happy to help by volunteering their time to assist you or to furnish supplies that they no longer need from their studios at home. Share your talent and have fun teaching our next generation all about miniatures!
